Tilting at Windmills! — The Errant Knights of La Mancha Game
"To be too practical is madness. To surrender dreams — this may be madness." — Don Quixote, Cervantes (1605)
1–5 Players · 30–90 Min · Age 12+ · Print & Play — Ready Tonight
What Is It?
Tilting at Windmills! is a print-and-play card game inspired by the world's first modern novel. Play as Cervantes' iconic characters — the knight, the squire, the clever schemer, the noble horse — racing for Glory across the sun-baked plains of La Mancha.
The Delusion token system is the heart of every turn: take a Delusion and gain Glory now — but each token costs you at the end. Wisdom is free. Madness is rewarding. The choice is yours.
One purchase. Two complete games.
🧩 Group Edition — Competitive (2–5 Players)
Race to 50 Glory before your rivals. Flip face-down Windmill Tiles for surprise effects. Play Chivalry cards to disrupt opponents at the worst possible moment. Eight unique characters, four colour-coded decks, and a push-your-luck system that creates genuine tension on every single turn.
🗡️ Solo Edition — 7-Chapter Campaign (1 Player)
Ride alone through 7 escalating Chapters. A secret Villain is drawn face-down at setup — revealed at Chapter III, when its passive effect immediately reshapes every Chapter that remains. Six different Villains. Six completely different campaigns. Your Sanity Track erodes as you chase Glory — hit zero and it's over, regardless of your score.
Why Players Love It
- Delusion tokens are both the reward and the penalty — spend them right or lose everything at the final tally
- 8 unique characters, each playing completely differently
- 6 secret Villains mean no two Solo campaigns are identical
- 160+ cards across four colour-coded decks
- Windmill Tiles create shared table moments every game
- Setup under 10 minutes — plays in one evening
- Every card text drawn from Cervantes' actual episodes and characters
