Captain Nemo: Leagues Beneath

The Deep Ocean Exploration Game

A cinematic print-and-play adventure inspired by Jules Verne’s Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea. One purchase gives you two complete games — a tense solo campaign and a competitive multiplayer exploration game — ready to download, print, and play tonight.

Explore the Abyss. Confront the Unknown.

The Nautilus was never built for ordinary voyages. Beneath the ocean lies uncharted territory, hidden civilizations, colossal creatures, and dangers powerful enough to destroy even Captain Nemo himself.

In Captain Nemo: Leagues Beneath, you navigate the deep across seven perilous voyages inspired directly by Jules Verne’s classic novel. Discover lost wonders, manage resources, survive escalating threats, and race against forces hidden beneath the sea.

Every decision matters. Every voyage changes the game.

Two Complete Games in One Pack

Unlike most games that tack on a basic solo mode, Captain Nemo: Leagues Beneath includes two fully developed editions, each with unique mechanics, decks, pacing, and gameplay systems.

⚓ Solo Edition — 1 Player

A narrative-driven 7-voyage campaign where you command the Nautilus alone.

A hidden Secret Deep Threat is drawn face-down at setup and revealed midway through the campaign, transforming your strategy and forcing you to adapt under pressure.

Manage oxygen, morale, scientific discoveries, and escalating ordeals as the ocean itself turns against you.

Solo Features

  • 7-voyage campaign system
  • Hidden threat revealed at Voyage IV
  • Resource and pressure management
  • Narrative progression inspired by Verne’s novel
  • Multiple replay paths and endings

👥 Group Edition — 2–5 Players

A competitive exploration game where players battle for League Points while trying to keep the shared Wrath Track from destroying everyone. Push too aggressively and the ocean retaliates. Cooperate too little and everyone sinks. The result is a tense mix of strategy, sabotage, exploration, and survival.

Group Features

  • 2–5 players
  • Shared Wrath Track system
  • Five color-coded card decks
  • Competitive scoring across 7 voyages
  • Cooperative tension with strategic rivalry

  • Do I need both editions or can I buy just one? Both editions are delivered together in a single purchase — you get both the Solo and Group files at one price. There's no way to buy them separately, and there's no reason to: the price reflects both.

Is the Solo Edition a stripped-down version of the Group game? No. They share the same setting and some thematic DNA, but the Solo Edition has its own exclusive decks (Ordeal, Breakthrough, Voyage Dossier), its own character abilities, its own Pressure Track system, and its own campaign structure. It was designed from scratch as a solo experience.

What's the Wrath Track and why does it matter? The Wrath Track is the shared threat in the Group Edition. It rises when certain cards are played and when players push certain actions too hard. At level 3 it starts triggering. At level 8 it forces a group Confrontation. Managing it creates genuine collective tension in a competitive game — players are racing each other and cooperating against the board at the same time.

How long does it take to print and cut? About 45–60 minutes for a full edition if you're careful with the cutting. Most people print the decks they need first and cut as they go. The colour-coded borders mean you can sort every card in under a minute.

Can I play the Solo Edition more than once? Does it have replay value? Yes. The 6 Secret Deep Threats create 6 completely different campaigns. The 4 characters play very differently. The Ordeal and Breakthrough decks shuffle randomly. Voyage VII ends differently depending on your choices. Most players report 8–12 distinct campaign experiences before the variety feels exhausted.

Is this suitable for people who haven't read Jules Verne? Absolutely. The game is fully self-contained — every card has the text you need to play. Knowledge of the novel adds resonance but isn't required. The story unfolds through play regardless of whether you've read it.

What age is this appropriate for? Designed for ages 14 and up. The mechanical complexity sits at medium — roughly equivalent to a gateway-plus game. Teens who enjoy strategy games will handle it without difficulty. The themes (obsession, mortality, the ethics of isolation) are mature but never graphic.

Can I print multiple copies? Yes. Your personal use licence allows you to print as many copies as you need for your own household. Commercial use (clubs, schools, cafés, events) requires a separate licence — contact games@perewinkle.com.
